The fiction-based media is fraught with invitations to fear, grief, resentment and retaliation. We need to be able to to separate the real from the false and be able to discern the true intention behind fake news events. We need to be able to help ourselves and each other steer clear of the nefarious agenda – and from the hype. Otherwise, the media is inviting us to think of ourselves as less than we truly are – even to self-destruct.
